Santa Clara talk
My talk at Santa Clara tonight went well, and I've put all the materials online. Unfortunately there is no audio or video available, but there is a significantly longer PowerPoint presentation than at FreedomFest, and some quite detailed talk notes. Wayne was able to attend, which was great, as much of the work is based on his ideas.

So, I had another thought. For stage 3, building the resort, have you thought of buying an insurance policy, or having one available, for people who put up money? So that if they put up money and the thing never gets built or proves unlivable, they can recoup some or all of their losses? It would probably be a very expensive policy, but even having it available might be good enough for investor confidance and for morale (because you are thinking about their financial welfare) that it might be worth it.

Why not purchase a used jack up rig.

Why not just purchase a used jack up rig? Here is an online example;

It would be anchored to the seafloor. It would be stable. And it would be moveable (if need be).

One problem is that such rigs contain a lot of expensive oil exploration equipment which is not useful to a seastead. Another is that it is much less attractive to vacationers and visitors, as its just an oil rig, not a New Wave Of Life On The Ocean (tm).

But its certainly a possibility.

This sort of thing makes much more sense and people are already doing it--what's the problem?
